| SOLD 1959 AMI J | |
|
This jukebox was manufactured in 1959 by the Automatic Musical Instrument Company (AMI) at their factory in Grand Rapids, Michigan USA. Like the American cars of the time, each model only lasted one year before being completely revised. This model J is the 200 electric selection (plays both sides of 100 records) version which is the top of the range and most sought after by collectors. This makes it not just a fantastic jukebox to own and enjoy - its a real investment too.
The cabinet was completely stripped, repaired then sanded, primed, undercoated and finally the Cadillac Green top coat applied. All metal trims were stripped, polished and chromed to a high standard giving a sparkling contrast to the paintwork.
The record changing mechanism was completely stripped, cleaned and reassembled using the original factory manual. Contact wipers, belts and switches were replaced to ensure a long trouble free operation. The original coin and credit systems were overhauled and you can set the jukebox to use quarters or free play - at the flick of a switch.
The AMI J was imported from the USA that use 110V mains electricity, so a transformer was fitted so that you can safely run it from our 240V system. All the mains wiring was replaced and new connectors fitted throughout. The lighting system was also completely overhauled and fitted with new fluorescent tubes and starters.
The design of the sound system in the AMI J one of the best for any jukebox and so great attention to detail in the rebuild of the amplifier ensures that it meets factory specification. A modern magnetic cartridge is fitted which gives superior performance compared with the original and will cause less wear to your precious vinyl records. Finally, the 12 loud speaker was re-coned, using original materials, and the sound now is absolutely fantastic.
The jukebox was carefully reassembled and has been loaded with great selection of 100 records including The Beatles, Carpenters, Bill Haley, Shirley Bassey, Paul Anka, Eagles, Tom Jones, Fats Domino, The Four Tops, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones. |
